Summary

Vishay has been gradually upgrading its website and sought to evaluate its performance against industry standards. With specific pages identified for review, the analysis was structured into the following categories:

  • Methodology

  • Executive Summary

  • Page Insights

  • Calculators

  • Horizontal Comparisons

  • Next Steps

The Challenge

Vishay does not offer direct purchasing on its website; instead, products are bought through distributors. With a wide range of tools available, the team wanted to assess their performance and usability. A variety of pages were reviewed and rated for performance, including:

  • Applications: Automotive

  • Brands

  • Calculators: Joule Wizard, Aluminum Capacitor, Thermistor

  • Category Pages: Capacitors, Ceramic, Multilayer Leaded Product, Optocoupler, Isolators, Phototransistor Output Products

  • Events

  • Homepage

  • Parametric Search

  • Tools

  • Webinars

My Role

I collaborated with Vishay's product owners to identify the most critical pages for analysis and the reasons behind their selection. I compiled a document outlining the rated categories, along with an Excel sheet that included a set of questions. The ratings were based on personal assessments of performance, covering categories such as User Goals, Page Layout, Page Components, Overall Usability, and Inputs/Outputs. If a category was not relevant to a specific page, it was not rated.

Final Thoughts

Overall, Vishay was pleased with the results. While they knew there were areas for improvement, they weren't sure where to start. I also discovered that, while visual enhancements were needed, the UX was in better shape than I initially expected. The next step is to collaborate with their teams to begin implementing some of the recommended changes.
